RPM BOXING
A NEW PROMOTION COMPANY WITH A PURPOSE
RPM Boxing Promotions was licensed as a boxing
promoter on August 21, 2001 by the State of Texas. The company is owned by
Brian D. Pardo. Pardo has held various licenses in Texas, Nevada and
elsewhere as a manager and second to several female boxers, most notably
including Ann Wolfe, the current IFBA Jr. Middleweight World Champion.
Pardo
has also, over the years, assisted numerous other amateur and professional
boxers through donations and grants to The Waco Boxing Club located in
Waco, Texas.
After
watching Ann Wolfe spar in Waco three years ago Mr. Pardo agreed to manage
her career and took a serious interest in Women’s boxing, seeing it as
an emerging sport that will grow and flourish in the years to come. At the
time Ann Wolfe had one professional fight.
RPM
Boxing was formed specifically for the purpose of supporting women’s
boxing. This is to be accomplished in two ways. First, by promoting all
female boxing matches with high quality participants in medium and large
venues. And, second, to promote top female bouts on mixed cards in the
same type of venues.
RPM
Boxing also will attempt to see that these bouts are televised whenever
possible. The “TEXAS SHOOTOUT” scheduled for November 16, 2001 is the
first major promotion of RPM Boxing. Bringing four female world
championship fights and one Intercontinental championship bout to the same
fight card is a first for female boxing.
For
more information on the “TEXAS SHOOTOUT” and the various matches on
the program go to the feature stories on the press
release page and the
“Boxing Information” page.
